Bye, bye 2010

December 31, 2010

by Kaede

This was quite a successful year in many different ways and I really enjoy the end of this year right now! Though I am a bit upset because it‘s not snowing anymore….but it seems that I am the only person in germany who enjoyed the weather of the past few weeks. I felt like a child again, when I was building a snowman in my boyfriend‘s garden. That was great! But I am sorry for all people who could not join their family and friends because of the traffic chaos.

Another aspect I love about the weather is also fashion! I have discovered the advantages of functional clothing, especially when they are fashionable. I love my coat by NorthFace, which I have now for three years, I would not want to miss it just for one day. And of course my new DocMartens! I will never ever be cold!

So, hopefully next year is going to be as nice as past year. I will keep on pamper my inner goddess, so you should do as well!

2010 it was…

December 31, 2010

by Charlie

It might be the tranquility of this island and the calming effect of the Baltic Sea, which makes me realize how busy and overwhelming the last year has been for me.  But no matter where you go or what you do:

“On the road of life, it’s not where you go, but who’s by your side that makes the difference.”

This sentence has been accompanying me for quite a while and pretty much describes my last year. It was a tough one with lots of exciting, extraordinary, strange and stressful things that have happened to me and I ‘m sure I wouldn’t have made it this far without the help and support of all the people I met along this way.

There were people who created the most unbelievable memories of my life.

There were people I rather wouldn’t have met. But even they were kind of good in a way. They helped me to discover strength and self-confidence.

There was a happy reunion with an escape into a different world.

And last but not least there were old friends, who stuck with me in good and bad and I could share everything with ;-). Thank you! You know who you are.

So, let’s see who’s gonna cross my way next year. I’m looking forward to it…!

Happy New Year to everyone!

Russian Waltz

December 23, 2010

by Maya

Snowy greetings from Central Europe! I just returned from my fabulous skiing holidays and spontaneously decided to write another post!

My boyfriend and I recently started attending dance classes and of course we are also learning how to dance the waltz. On this occasion I got reminded of my all-time favorite waltz: Dmitri Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2 which is also known as the Russian Waltz. Somehow I prefer this one to the classic Viennese Waltz because it is darker and more dramatic. This piece was also chosen by Stanley Kubrick as the opening music for his last movie “Eyes Wide Shut”. Enjoy!

Peter Lindbergh “On Street”

December 16, 2010

by Maya

Two weeks ago I spent a weekend in Berlin and among other wonderful things Charlie, Kaede and I visited Peter Lindbergh’s On Street exhibition at the C/O Berlin. Among the more than 200 photographs are Lindbergh’s legendary works which made him famous but also some rather unknown pieces. The exhibition is a definite must for lovers of black and white and fashion photography and it is open until January 2011.
