Discovering Frank!

March 2, 2010

As you have already certainly noticed from my Top Ten Sexiest Songs my taste in music is rather eclectic. I can listen to almost every genre because it is always a particular song that draws me in and captivates me.

Recently while reading my favourite fan fiction story online I came across Frank Sinatra’s “Witchcraft”. Somehow it had never occurred to me to listen to Sinatra before. I don’t even know why. I guess I felt too young for Big Band. But this song was so charmingly woven into the story I simply fell in love with it. I went and listened to his “Romance: Songs from the Heart” compilation of love songs and it was a really wonderful experience. This music catapults me into a different era. You instantly feel glamorous, want to dress in one of those 1950s ball gowns and be whirled around the dance floor by a tall stranger in a tuxedo. Think Grace Kelly in “High Society” or Audrey Hepburn in “Sabrina”! Here are some of my absolute favourites:

“Witchcraft”: this song is so sexy in an old-fashioned, classy way

“Fly Me to the Moon”: OMG, this is so beautiful and romantic!

“I’ve got You under My Skin”:

I’ve been a fan of Mr. Gentleman of the old school since quite a while. Oh, let’s just say it, I love him!
    And listen to this voice:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRaT4AAabKs&feature=related
You can literally feel the spirit of those days (or,at least I can…) 😉
Hmmmmmm, The Ratpack, maybe I should write something about them?!?!?

Thank you for the link! Yes, this is really wonderful. But whereas you have an obsession with voices, I have an obsession with words 😉

“you are all I long for, all I worship and adore” – How beautiful is this? Sounds so like Fifty! 😉

Yes, you should, maybe for our “Retro-Week”! Still have to decide when we will do this one.
